Our poor pumpkin that was so happy we picked from the pumpkin patch was all but forgotten in the hubub of Halloween and Clint working too much. We finally carved him. And I forgot to blog about it.

I’d checked a book out of the library about pumpkins to read with Flynn, so he kept pestering and pestering me to do our pumpkin. Flynn remembered all the steps the book detailed on pumpkin carving. He drew the face and the line for me to cut the top off. He knew we had to scrape out the seeds and stringy stuff and then cut the face. He knew we could toast the seeds to eat and that you can make pumpkin pie out of it when we were done. He really is just a little sponge when it comes to learning stuff. Gotta harness that!

Flynn drew the tiniest little face on the pumpkin. It was really easy to cut, but didn’t show up very well, so I outlined it with a permanent marker. It’s actually good that the face is so small because I want to do a Dinner in a Pumpkin with it so we get more mileage out of our forgotten pumpkin.

I love these kids and their beautiful smiles.
